  1. Stark, deep and gorgeous. I cried. It touched somewhere that isn't often touched.

    Beautiful.

  2. A sweeter and more hopeful story than I'd come to expect from you, Linda. Maybe I'd pigeonholed you. I was sure it would go south by the end, and was grateful you let her see that light. Thank you for sharing.

  3. Whether the story ends hopeful or in despair, or somewhere in between, I'm always there, inside your world. Wonderful message of hope in this one.

  4. Gorgeous.

This is a beautiful line (among a whole mess of beautiful lines): "Although not Jewish, she understood the meaning of shiva."

    Good, good work.

  5. Thanks all for reading this story. It has some basis in truth, as my now very much alive son was once pronounced a 'blighted ovum'. Much of the rest was fictionalized, but I drew on the memory of grief that welled those weeks I waited.

John, I find your comment interesting -- I write sad and hopeless most of the time? Hmmm... must ponder that some more.

Once again thank you for taking the time to read and comment on this story. Peace...

  6. Loved the story Linda. I could feel her hope welling up in me as the story progressed. Almost afraid to hear what the technician would say, based on that hope; then the pure happy joy of the white screen. Bravo, Linda! Standing ovation for that beauty.

  7. A strong story, here. Like John, I thought this was going to turn out with a hard ending, the woman deciding she was too old to deal with it, or the risks that come with age (as you well know), but I'm glad she made the decision she did. Such hope and promise.
